Bulldogs Lose Two At Home.
The Hazelton Bulldogs played host to the Fort St. James Stars on Saturday and the Burns Lake Bruins on Sunday. The Dogs
came out hard in the first period against the Stars and saw themselves down by a score of 4-2 at the end of the 1st. But they
seemed to lose focus in the 2nd when Fort scored some early goals and led by a wide margin at the end of the second. But in
the 3rd period the Dogs came out very hard and put together a great effort getting a few more goals. The final score ended
up being 16-4. Matt Ranahan collected 3 goals and an assist in the loss, James de Boer picked up 3 assists and Konrad
Howard with the other goal. James, Matt and Konrad had great games in the loss. On Sunday it was more of the same for the
bulldogs as they faced off against the Burns Lake Bruins. The first period was not good for the Bulldogs as many weak goals
were allowed in by net-minder Blair Angus. The score at the end of the first was lop sided at 7-0. In the second the Bulldogs
played a lot better and picked up a few goals with 2 by Matt Ranahan both assisted by James de Boer. In the third the bulldogs
seemed to get frusterated as just 5 minutes in James de Boer dropped the mits and fought Burns Lake's #12 Derksen and was
ejected from the game. The fight seemed to give the Bulldogs life as they scored a few un-answered goals. Another fight by
Konrad Howard gave the Dogs some must needed energy. The dogs played well in the 3rd as they scored 5 goals in the 3rd period.
The game came to a rough end when Matt Ranahan got in a tussel against a Burns Lake forward and recieved a misconduct for
pulling off a players cage who was seated on the bench. The game ended up being 16-7 the final, a good effort by the Bulldogs.
Goals were scored by Matt Ranahan who picked up 4, Patrick O' Brian who got a couple, Elliot Wilson who cashed in and Scott
Muldon who got one. After the game Ranahan comented: "We had all the energy in the first. We came out hitting hard and got
some breakaways. Their goalie played great in the first." "Our goalie needs to start coming to practices. Its that simple.
We lost lots of momentum when they scored in the first" Added Patrick O' Brian. The Bulldogs next test is up against the Smithers
Rams on the 18th of December. GO BULLDOGS!
